After grabbing some quick munch and finding out that the next place we wanted to go was closed we checked the Kyoto hit list and chose the Heian Shrine. One of the newest shrines built in 1895 it is recognizable by its white, orange and green colours.
We arrived at one of the largest gates i have seen
looking at the shrine it really did look new, and in great condition
large barrels of sake stacked up
this was the view straight ahead after entering thought the gate entrance
view from the gate from inside
yet more cliché shots, im about 1/2way through my stay in Japan and im started to get the tourist shots out of my system, i cant wait to go back to Akihabara and try to make some unique shots about the place im getting familiar with
i really enjoy this frame, the fact there is such open space only disrupted by afew people
By now my feet were really messed up, due to getting wet feet and having loose skateboard shoes, after about 5hours of walking around i was pritty much a cripple.
We took a rest and those guys were really understanding. We never got to see the famous gardens of the shrine as we needed to rush off to catch the sunset at our next place of visit.
On the way i got a small glimpse of the Japanese dog culture. Women opt for dogs instead of children sometimes and the dogs a treated well, if not sometimes a little too human. Often dogs are dressed up and are carried around in bags rather than walking. This woman in the photo was asking if she could take the dog onto the train, which was declined.
